The Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA) is a federal law that required the creation of national standards to protect sensitive patient health information from being disclosed without the patient’s consent or knowledge. The US Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) issued the HIPAA Privacy Rule to implement the requirements of HIPAA. The HIPAA Security Rule protects a subset of information covered by the Privacy Rule.
HIPAA Privacy Rule
The Privacy Rule standards address the use and disclosure of individuals’ health information (known as “protected health information”) (PHI) by entities subject to the Privacy Rule. These individuals and organizations are called “covered entities.” Vacation with the Magic is NOT a “covered entity.”
Although Vacation with the Magic is not a covered entity, thus not required to protect your personal health information, we do so because it is the right thing to do. We value our clients and we work hard to ensure their information is secure and safe.
Our FORMS and EMAILS are protected on HIPAA compliant servers, they are secured and encrypted to ensure the security of your personal information. Your Magic Planner only uses the information that you have provided to assist in vacation planning for the accessibility and equal access the your family deserves. We do not share your protected health information with any of our vendors or suppliers. They have no need to know your diagnosis or who in your party is disabled.
